Preparing for the Apocalypse

So the Mayans draw up a calendar that charted up to 21/12/2012, it was discovered in 1987 and now the day is finally here. Some will have been researching theories and preparing for this day for decades, well maybe 2 at least. The apocalypse could take a few different shapes. Global warming is a popular idea, extremely accelerated heating of the planet is bound to cause some issues. Maybe the sun will explode? We’ve got the conspiracy theory of Planet X which is on a collision course with Earth, or another theory that it will travel past us so closely that it will mess up our gravitational pull and cause devastating global disasters. This has of course been covered up by the government. Or my personal favourite, that our collective human consciousness will shift, resulting in every one dying.

Well in preparation I decided to pick 3 very different ‘end of the world’ themed films and give them a watch, maybe I will pick up on some tips on surviving the apocalypse. My choices are Seeking a Friend For The End Of The World (2012), 2012 (2009) and The Road (2009). I figured this is a good balance, Seeking a Friend seems to be how to prepare yourself for impending doom, 2012 is what the world will look like during, and The Road is a lesson on how to survive afterwards. Bring it on…

My thoughts on said films to follow, if we make it of course 🙂
